Marcian Garden Hotel was the venue of Fatma, my best friend, for her wedding ceremony and reception. Cath and I stayed here for two nights to attend the festivities and explore the other attractions in Zamboanga.
Marcian is one of the luxury hotels in Zamboanga. It’s six minutes away from the airport, accessible to business and commercial districts of Asia’s Latin city. It’s rather a small hotel with only three floors of suites and rooms and is always expected to be fully-booked due to frequent weddings and celebrations. It may not be as grand as the five-star hotels in Manila, but it can be seen that it’s one of the top hotels in Zamboanga.
The lobby looks posh and elegant. Hotel staff in native dresses and well-pressed uniforms will greet and assist you courteously as you enter the hotel premises. That initially gave me the impression that this hotel is a high-end one.
Here are the other reasons why we love Marcian Garden Hotel:
1. It is accessible.
Since it is near the airport and malls, it was not difficult to roam around the city and return to the hotel. It’s accessible to public transportation. The hotel is also surrounded with coffee shops and restaurants. My friends and I enjoyed the coffee shop across the hotel where we also played indoor games.
2. It has nice room amenities.
The bed has Duvet cover, the bathroom has a blower, essentials and toiletries. The room has a mini working space, a safety vault for storage of valuables, iron and iron stand, slippers, TV set, mini refrigerator, complimentary water, coffee and tea. Ahhh! What more can I ask for? Everything I need for a comfortable stay is here!
3. It has daily buffet breakfast.
Cath and I enjoyed the breakfast spread served every morning. Although the food selection is limited, we were still satisfied with the mains, breads, coffee and desserts. It’s a self- service buffet station where you can prepare your bread and coffee. There’s also an omelet station for guests to enjoy.
4. It has a swimming pool.
Although Cath and I were not able to swim because of the weather and time constraints, I appreciate that the hotel has a swimming pool. If we had more leisure time, we’d definitely hang-out here. At least, guests can have a diversion aside from staycationing. I also saw that there’s a pool side bar for food and refreshments.
5. The hotel staff are attentive to our needs.
I’d like to note that Marcian has good customer service. When we need something, we’d call the front desk and they are quick to attend to our needs. For example, when we needed robes and extra plastics for our wet clothes, the room attendants handed it to us immediately after calling the receptionist. Also, it’s a good thing that when Fatma had a rush request for the printing of her wedding programme, the receptionists were able to help us with a minimal fee. The bell boys are also willing to offer a helping hand when carrying our luggage to and from our room.
6. It has a huge convention center.
The Marcian Convention Center was the venue for Fatma’s wedding reception. The huge function room was amazingly transformed into an opulent wedding venue with draperies and decors that matched her wedding theme.
7. It has a free shuttle service going to the airport.
When we were waiting at the lobby, we were approached by a hotel staff and he asked our flight schedule. We were surprised that the hotel has a free drop-off service going to the airport. That spared us the hassle of booking a Grab taxi or having to deal with the tricycle drivers.
8. We enjoyed our girl bonding here.
Talk about heart-to-heart conversations, make-up sessions, bingeing on sappy movies, goofy and “trip-trip” pictorials — we definitely enjoyed our stay here.

Marcian Garden Hotel is definitely a recommended hotel for tourists who are after a luxurious and convenient stay in the heart of Zamboanga City. Thanks to my besty Fatma and her family for this pleasurable experience. We appreciate the kind gesture.
