A roadtrip to Tagaytay won’t be complete without visiting Bag of Beans.  Aside from the luscious desserts, coffee variants and hefty brunch servings, Bag of Beans is known for its charming locations that match your preference for a place to unwind. I’ve been to Rotonda branch only, but discovered that the one in Athena is even more dashing.

Compared to the one in Rotonda, the space is definitely bigger as seen in the wide yet steep parking lot. The rugged pathway and stairs leading to the restaurant meant extra effort discovering this humble gem, but nevertheless a worthy find for a dessert-and- nature lover like me.

The landscape dotted with plants and flowers welcoming you is a refreshing sight, making you anticipate for better things to come.

One of the things I easily notice when entering a restaurant is its lamps or chandeliers. The chandeliers accentuate and define the look of the restaurant, and the one in Bag of Beans is pretty and eye-catching.

Upon entering, you can smell the fragrance of citronella that fills the entire room, even the washrooms. Learning about that particular scent left me longing to have one at home. The aroma blends with the smell of brewed coffee and fresh flowers that adorn the side tables.

The vintage vases and inspirational frames were the main decors of the restaurant, reflecting positivity and sophistication.

The outdoor view was equally stunning and beautiful, as expected. The lush greenery complements the overlooking of Taal Lake.

Of all areas, this was my favorite spot. Although we did not stay here, we had a short moment to take photos in this private cabana before heading out. I loved the dramatic hanging curtains at the back.

Up to this date, the Blueberry Cheesecake of Bag of Beans remains on the top spot for me.  It’s perfectly moist and dense, thick, and not overly-sweet. I love the texture and consistency of the Graham fillings. This signature dessert will never be evaded every time I visit Bag of Beans.

Another delightful dessert that fine afternoon was the Chocolate Chips Pancake. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, but I still prefer the one from Pancake House. It was topped with melted butter, confectioners sugar and cherry, and was nicely presented with choco chips on the side. One order is good for sharing.

The signature hot chocolate was made from Tablea and is served on an embossed Bag of Beans Mug. You can also buy the mug for 200++ pesos.

My mom is a certified coffee addict and she definitely loved the Caramel Machiatto.

My cousin ordered the Mocha Frapuccino served in tall glass and served with whipped cream on top.

Bag of Beans also offers a variety of breakfast and lunch meals coming way above the average budget, but the food experience is nothing less than extraordinary. They serve huge, quality portions of your famous breakfast favorites in gorgeous food presentation. I look forward to writing a separate blog post for their delicious meals the next time around.

For now, I am elated that my family is happy with their first Bag of Beans experience.
