For our mom’s 55th birthday, we wanted to make it extra special so my siblings and I intended to celebrate it in Tagaytay. We initially thought of booking a hotel but later on decided to make a reservation through AirBnb for practical and convenient reasons.
The options in Airbnb are more diverse and flexible: you can choose the price range, preferred amenities, location, lying capacity, space, features, etc. We also found out that the prices are more reasonable in Airbnb compared to that of hotels. Although Airbnb has more strict rules and policies, it is more convenient to our budget, and suitable for our needs.
Among the spaces for rent in Tagaytay, we chose to stay in Wind Residences. The posh condo seemed guest-friendly for its nice amenities, lovely ambiance and affordable rates. The property is owned by Anna and Dunhill. Just a few message exchanges online and a credit card reservation, we then secured this unit two weeks before mom’s birthday.
The reception area was classy, similar to that of a high-end hotel. We were asked to register our names and leave an ID. For me, that was a good way to ensure the guest’s safety and security.
We met the caretaker at the lobby and were ushered to our unit. Albeit the space is small to move around, it was squeaky clean, neat and pleasant. It can be seen that the place is well-maintained.
The furniture and other household items are chic and new. I loved the modern/ contemporary theme of the unit.
There is only one queen size bed in the room, but the two couches in the living area can be transitioned to beds if you unfold it. There are also two extra mattresses provided for sleeping on the floor.
The beds and pillows were soft and comfortable. However, the room was not well-ventilated since it only has a ceiling fan. The living area, on the other hand, is fully air-conditioned.
I already noticed it the next day, that the room has a view of Taal Lake.
And we got over-joyed seeing this!! My siblings and I are addicts of this classic computer game. I remember skipping my assignments and studying for this, during my elementary years 😀 The Family Computer was connected to the small flat-screen TV in the bedroom.
When I wasn’t busy with my cooking chores that day, I played Super Mario, Ice Climber, Milk and Nuts, Popeye, Battle City, Twin Bee like a kid!
There were indoor games provided by the owner too. The place seemed kid-friendly not only for children, but for kids-at-heart like us 🙂
I also liked the bathroom. It was not spacious, but it was clean and complete with bath essentials.
I always prefer warm baths when traveling so the hot and cold shower of the bathroom was an advantage for me.
I was not able to take photos of the kitchen but I simply adored the cooking utensils. Perfect match for my passion for cooking! I was able to cook Carbonara, Potato Salad and Toasted Bread. 🙂 My only comment was that I hope the owner provides complimentary drinking water for the guests next time. We did not buy one since I assumed it’s already provided.
The swimming pool has an entrance fee of 150 pesos for non-tenants. We were not able to enjoy the outdoor pool since it was under cleaning and maintenance that day. Good thing there is an indoor pool, otherwise I would have demanded for a refund. It was a bit disappointing that we weren’t advised immediately at the office where we paid and registered. Walking a few blocks from the unit to the pool is no joke.
Wind Residences can be praised for its serene surroundings, perfect for strolling or enjoying the view.
I recommend this place for a decent vacation. However, my only concern is the accessibility of the place. The swimming pool, convenience store and parking lot are too far from the unit and there is no internal shuttle service provided.
Over-all, I am well-pleased with my stay at Wind Residences. The facilities were okay, the communication with the owner was clear and the location was beautiful. If not for logistics issue, I would have definitely rated it five stars.
