Puerto Princesa was our last stop in Palawan before heading back home. We stayed overnight for a simple city tour, food trip in one of its best restaurants and last-minute pasalubongs before going back to Manila. Since this marks the last stretch of our Palawan adventure, we wanted it to be more laid back but special. We didn’t have the luxury of time to visit the Underground River or Honda Bay, so our alternative was to pick a nice hotel with a swimming pool. There are plenty of options on the web, but Blue Lagoon Inn and Suites was too eye-catching not to notice. Scrutinizing the reviews, amenities, and price, we agreed on booking this pretty hotel in Puerto Princesa.
Blue Lagoon Inn and Suites is located in Purok Malaya, Brgy. Bancao-bancao,
Puerto Princesa City. It’s only 3 minutes away from the airport and 5 minutes away from the downtown city. The van which fetched us in El Nido dropped us directly to this hotel. Since the internet was bad in El Nido, we didn’t book online. We called the reception first to check the availability of the rooms. We gave our names and the estimated time of our arrival. We just made the payment at the reception upon checking in.

The hotel is fronted by a restaurant-bar at the entrance. It serves good food too! Food has large servings and tastes excellent as well.

We thought of booking for a Standard room only but since it was not available that time, our room was upgraded to Villa Standard for free! We paid only Php 1800 for this room. Too cheap right? We couldn’t believe that a decent hotel in Puerto Princesa could be as affordable as that. We had two double beds, a toilet and bath, TV, a small working table, a mini refrigerator and a receiving area outside.
The beds were not that soft and fluffy, but just right for a comfy overnight sleep.
The bathroom looked new and squeaky clean too. Basic toiletries such as soap bars and shampoo were provided.
The room also has a wooden cabinet for our belongings.
The pool at the center is surrounded by villas like the one we stayed in. Each villa has its own stairs leading to the main door, and receiving area outside.
The main attraction of the hotel is the blue-floored swimming pool. The water was not that cold. We enjoyed swimming at night and in the morning and since there were only a few guests, we had the pool to ourselves.
And of course, I love the hotel for its jacuzzi! I was quite hesitant to take a dip because I’m not sure if it was still clean, but who cares?! It’s jacuzzi!
Our stay at the hotel was peaceful, relaxing and very enjoyable. The timing was perfect to cool down a bit after the tiring water adventures in El Nido. The hotel had good guest relations, as if they are one of the 3-4 star hotels in Manila. By the time we checked in, we saw lots of foreigners staying at the hotel. It only means they are one of the most-sought hotels by tourists in Puerto Princesa. It is also accessible to nearby restaurants and establishments.
We really thought hotels in Puerto Princesa tend to be very expensive. Definitely, they are cheaper than those in El Nido. If you are planning to stay in Puerto Princesa, I really recommend Blue Lagoon Inn and Suites. You’d get your money’s worth, I promise.
Travel tip: The rates for walk-in are different than the rates published on their website. Try to call the reception first to inquire which is cheaper.
